Been thinking about becoming a foster carer? Let us give you the push you need to start fostering today with just five reasons why you should join our team.
1. Staffys need your help
This one is pretty obvious… and bull breeds are the largest percentage of surrendered breeds. We don’t want to see anymore, ‘Free to Good Home’ pet giveaways. We don’t want to see any more sad faces of abandoned or neglected pets. We want all staffys to have a warm bed, a bowl full of food and a family that loves them unconditionally. Do you?
2. Make new friends
By becoming a QSAR foster carer, you join a community of amazing people who are all in this for one reason – to save lives. By coming together through a love for the same thing, you bond with people who you may never have met any other way and make some life-long friends who will support and assist you in your foster journey.
3. Toughen up
We’ve all heard it, ‘I couldn’t foster, I’d get too attached’. Well, it’s true. If you ask any of our current foster carers, they’d all tell you that we do get very attached to our fosters. But we’ve all learnt to think about what is right for the staffy, rather than our own feelings and needs. Each time you say goodbye to a foster, they take a piece of your heart with them, but your heart grows stronger in your ability to let them go.
4. New Challenges
Bringing home your first foster to meet the family can be a challenge, don’t get us wrong! Introductions, new environments, toilet training, feeding, learning to manage multiple dogs on a morning walk… it’s all a big task. But, the rewards far outweigh the challenges of fostering. When you look at that little furry face as they drift off to sleep on their first night in your home (while you have a hefty glass of wine in hand), you can’t help but feel a small sense of pride in what you have achieved.
5. Become a part of something bigger
As humans we are always searching for a reason for our existence. Saving staffy lives is our reason, is it yours?
