Keeping Your Pets Warm In Winter

canine clothing do dogs get cold keeping dogs warm pets in winter thermal pet mats

Brrrrrr… it’s cold in here! Can you feel the temperature dropping? So can your pets. While we’re rugging up this winter, our dogs also need some comfort to get through the cold months as well. Here are some easy tips that keep our best friends warm too.

Heat Wheat Pillow or Hot Water Bottle

Heat up a heat wheat pillow (they are called many different names) that you have specifically for your pet and put it beside them before going to bed. The warmth from the pillow will warm them up enough while they are getting snug in their bed. No pillow? A hot water bottle works too. So long as your pet is not a chewer..

Let your pets inside!

We are a big advocate of your furry friend being allowed inside the house with the rest of the family. If you don’t currently do this, now is the time to consider allowing your dog to sleep inside your house, even in a laundry or in the lounge room. Temperatures get down to below 10 degrees throughout the night and being inside rather than outside, can increase the heat dramatically.

Canine Clothing

There are so many options out there on the market for cute little jackets for your dog. If you’ve got your pet used to wearing clothes (or want to), you can get very affordable jackets from discount stores that will keep that bit of warmth in on cold nights. There are also plenty of trendier options online if your pet prefers designer labels.

Thermal Pet Mats

There are more and more accessories for your pet than ever before. Look into getting a thermal pet mat. With most of them being self-heating (just like cooling mats for winter time) there is no effort required other than putting it out for your furry friend. If it’s cold enough, there won’t be any coaxing him into laying on the mat!

The winter months are just as tough on dogs as they are on humans. Our pets deserve a warm night every night too.
